Tonisha M. Jarrett

Tonisha is a Martinsville High School graduate who has since spent her entire professional career practicing in Morgan County. She attended Indiana University-Bloomington and Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. During her law school career, Tonisha spent time as an intern for the federal and public defender’s agency; earned a certificate in criminal law; and spent time teaching law and public policy to students at Shortridge High School.
In 2019, Tonisha was named Top 40 Under 40 Family Law Attorney by the American Institute of Trial Lawyer as well as Top 40 Young Lawyer by the National Alliance of Women in Law. In 2018, Tonisha was named Top 40 Under 40 by the Association of American Trial Lawyers. In 2017, Tonisha was named National Ranked Top 10 Under 40 by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys. Tonisha was selected as a Rising Stars Honoree from 2020-2023 by Super Lawyers.
Tonisha focuses her work primarily in family law, guardianships, protective orders, criminal defense, and has been known for her compassion for victims of domestic violence. As one of the attorneys for Morgan County, she spends a lot of her time advocating for juvenile rights, CHINS cases, and handles numerous adoptions, both private and through the Department of Child Services. Tonisha finds her most rewarding work with adoptions and represents foster parents all over the state of Indiana.
Tonisha currently lives in the Bargersville area. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She loves any activity outdoors and always looks forward to time spent on a nice vacation with her family.
In addition to practicing law, Tonisha is a certified family law mediator and has been trained to work as a Guardian at Litem.
